I know for a fact that my 3 busy kiddos aren't up for 45 minutes of sitting, smiling and posing. It is also not how I would want to document my own family during this precious time. So, here at EHP it is all about fun, games and those families with a whole lotta love to show.

Outdoor Sessions by the beach


I am so passionate about documenting allllll of the things that come with raising a young family.


If that means you've planned a session that involves watermelon juice dripping down the chin of your little one then lock it in.


If that means building sandcastles on the beach and getting soaked by a rogue wave then lock it in.


If that means capturing you loving on your kids in the present moment then, you guessed it. Lock. It. In.


Outdoor sessions are best for families, family maternity and newborn sessions.


We all know time is a thief. As mums we'd be rich if we had a dollar for anytime someone said that to us. So I will let you in on a little secret, yes time is a thief but I can help you pause time for a moment in these precious little things called photos.


I am not striving for perfect images, I am striving to capture your family doing what you love together and to me, nothing is more perfect than that. I want you to look back on these time stamps and adore them for many generations to come.


You only regret the photos you don't have. Again, we'd be rich if we had a dollar for every time we hear that!

Time of day and your session

Sunrise

Many people think that golden hour is only in relation to sunset but it is also exists as the hour after sunrise.


Some points to consider when choosing a sunrise session:


  • Being that early in the morning the beaches are considerable less busy and when you know all the best spots (like me) they are often empty. Your footprints being the only ones which is pretty darn special.
  • Sunrise is winter is often overlooked but in my opinion, winter offers some of the best sunrise skies.
  • If you are an early bird the sunrise is for you - particularly in summer. If not, it's worth setting your alarm for.

Sunrise, sunset or during the day?

Sunset

Sunset is the hour before sunset, aka golden hour where the light is soft, magical and flattering just like sunrise. Here are some points to consider with sunset sessions:


  • Often easier to manage with the bedtime routines of little ones. However at some times through out the year golden hour for sunset seems to fall right on witching hour. Less than ideal, right? But I can guarantee that your kids will be far happier out in nature than at the dinner table. So long as you are prepared with food/snacks right after your session all will be well.
  • We have all seen those magical pastel skies in the evenings. We cross our fingers and toes that the weather gods deliver on the day of your sunset session.

PRICING PACKAGES

Daytime

There is also the option to have your photos taken during the day and I personally LOVE, love, love that full sun look. There is something about the way sun drenched skin photographs that I just can't get enough of.


Now these photos can be a little more tricky (on my end, not yours) and involve some eyes closed looking toward the sun photos. If that's not your jam then don't book a during the day session. It's all about managing the shadows and avoid them falling under your eyes like dark circles. Honesty is what you'll get here!

We decided to do it at sunrise, ahem yes, it was in fact a Tuesday morning during term time (aka a school day) BUT a fun morning at the beach to capture all the things this family love to do. It doesn't have to be fancy or planned to a tee. Gorgeous memories can be created in an instant.

But what if we aren't a beach family?


Great question! That is A-okay.


My outdoor sessions aren't exclusive to the beach by any means. Most of my families tend to book in for the beach given the beautiful stretch of coastline that we are lucky to live along. Turn to the west and the landscape is equally as beautiful. The hinterland offers a picturesque setting, often with mountain scapes gracing the background and long grass in the foreground. DREAMY!

But What if we aren't a beach family or a hinterland family I hear you ask...



Well, now you are speaking my language. No beach or hinterland - no problem. This is where the lifestyle aspect of my photography comes in and something I absolutely adore capturing. We also work all of this out together in the pre session planning phase. A strategy that I often recommend when planning your session is don't choose a location, plan an activity. Often the planned activity will lead a person to the beach or hinterland but here are some super fun examples that won't:


  • Your fave ice cream shop where your frequent as a family
  • If you find yourselves at the skate park every waking moment then let's go there
  • Is bike riding your jam? Let's do it together!

The process

Book and prepare


Get in touch via the contact form or book directly online here. The $200 session fee secures your date. Then the fun starts where we plan the location, timing and outfits with full access to all of my client guides.

Take the photos


We chat in the week leading up to your session and then again on the day. This allows for any wet weather changes and to confirm the details. We meet at the chosen location and have a fabulous time making memories together.

See your photos


Your gallery is delivered 2 weeks after our session together via an online zoom meeting or emailed links. You will first view a slideshow of your images followed by the private viewing gallery where you can make your selections.

Choose and print


Choose the images that you absolutely love and cannot live without from your gallery and align these to a package. Use the print store voucher to order tangible keepsakes for your home.
